FAQS
-
All kinds of things. There is always a “farm leader” who can let you know what needs to be done or help you decide if something is a weed or not. Depending on the time of year and the weather, that could mean planting, weeding, harvesting, cleaning, mowing, and so on. There might also be odd jobs moving things around, digging things, emptying things, fixing things, preparing things for upcoming work events.
-
Absolutely! No need to sign up ahead of time. If you want to join our mailing list (below) or email us and let us know you’re interested in work hours, you’ll get email updates - usually the day of the work hours - with details about what kind of work might be going on that day and how the weather might impact things.
-
Yes. Sometimes we have to cancel farm hours because of the weather. Your safety is important to us; therefore, we do not host farm hours when there is thunder and lightning, an extreme heat warning, and/or the air quality is Unhealthy or higher per the Air Quality Index. Of course, you know what is best for yourself, so we want you to do what is best for you.
-
Dress appropriately for the weather and wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Sunscreen, closed-toed shoes, hats, water bottles, and work gloves are encouraged. Beyond that, there’s no need to bring any tools or materials.
-
That’s OK. There are plenty of jobs that don’t require a green thumb or having previous gardening experience. We have many members of our community that are experienced growers and are eager to teach others.
-
Yes! We have a port-a-potty on site during the grow season, as well as running water outside.

On-street parking is available; however the farm is located in a residential area. Please be conscious of and courteous to our neighbors. For working hours and events, if you are able to do so, please park further away on streets like Centre, Lehigh, or Fordham Avenue so that the parking spaces closer to the farm can be used by those who need them. Walking and biking is encouraged for those who are able.
