The Casper Reel Cabin

SPECIAL PROJECT

Arriving in the early 1790s, Casper Reel was one of the first known Colonist to permanently settle in what is known as West View today. His second log home, finished ~1795, still stands on Georgetown Ave and is the oldest building in the North Hills.

In spring 2022, the West View Urban Farm was born, and while the first priority was establishing the farm and growing food for the community, we always knew the Cabin could become something really special.

We are currently rehabilitating Reel Cabin to expand the Farm’s programming and become a third space for the community. We envision this historic building providing a safe space for friendship, stewardship, and connection - turning strangers truly into neighbors.
